How do I plant my new trees or shrubs ?

  • Dig a hole double the width of your pot ( or root ball)

  • Depth of hole should not be deeper then the root ball

  • Remove plastic or fiber container

    • Removal of tree should be done with care, so as to not disturb the roots. If needed cut the pot.

  • Before planting the tree, moisten soil in the dugout hole

  • After planting, add starter fertilizer to give your tree the nutrients needed to grow



Depending on the location where tree is planted, or how large the crown is. Stake the tree to prevent it from falling over due to strong winds

  • pruning is recommended in early spring or late fall. Remove any dead or broken branches

    • Do not prune terminal leader or branch tips



Watering:

  • After planting your tree, keep the tree well watered for roots to catch hold

    • Initial watering after planting is very important
